SPRING

THE WOOD ELEMENT

Archetype: The Explorer or Leader

The Wood Element in TCM represents growth, vision, and the drive to explore new possibilities.

It’s associated with the liver and gallbladder, organs that help us plan and take action.

When Wood energy is balanced, we feel motivated and have a clear sense of purpose. When out of balance, it can manifest as frustration, irritability, or feeling stuck.

This is the season of growth, movement, and expansion—an ideal time to harness Wood energy in a way that feels nourishing and sustainable.

As nature wakes up, we are invited to stretch, take action, and embrace new possibilities.

SEASONAL TIPS

  • MOVE AND STRETCH

    Wood energy thrives on movement

Get outside and take a refreshing walk, or find a class to take in your video library.

Pay special attention to hip mobility and side-body opening to nourish the Liver and Gallbladder meridians.

  • EAT FRESH, LIGHT, AND GREEN

Support your Liver with leafy greens, sprouts, and sour foods (like lemon and vinegar) to encourage smooth energy flow.

Reduce heavy, stagnant foods like greasy, overly rich meals that may weigh you down in spring.

  • RELEASE TENSION AND EXPRESS YOURSELF

Wood energy, when blocked, leads to frustration and irritability.

Express emotions through movement, breathwork, journaling, or even shouting into a pillow to clear stuck energy.

  • SET INTENTIONS + TAKE ALIGNED ACTION

Spring is a natural time to clarify your vision and start new projects.

Keep goals realistic and adaptable to avoid burnout or rigidity.

  • BALANCE STRUCTURE WITH FLEXIBILITY

While Wood energy loves direction, balance it with spontaneity and rest.

Think bamboo over oak—strong but adaptable, rooted yet flexible.
